Manually located the driver for Windows and I get the aforementioned problem. and the XBOX 360 Wireless Receivers light didnt lit up. I've manually installed the drivers off of MS's website, no dice. Nothing I found could get my XBox 360 Wireless Receiver to work in Linux Mint 17.1 until I did this. The knockoffs are almost always branded X360, seen above right, and usually say PC Wireless Gaming Receiver or a variation on the back. Going back into Device Manager, the device is listed again as unknown even if it was labeled during the update, and I get error code 28, "drivers are not installed"

I use an xbox 360 wireless gamepad in my PC, before 10 days i installed the update 2004 for Windows 10 and my chinese OEM wireless receiver stopped working (I have also an official MS receiver that is still working but has got a problem, it is disconnected all the time and is not usable anymore) Then i searched on google and i found this. Doing this, windows recognized it a the "Xbox 360 wireless receiver" but it failed to install the driver. I did manually show windows where the driver was located. The receiver keeps coming up as a unknown devices even though it was working fine before my break. I've installed and uninstalled the drivers for it multiple times. Recently started playing again and the receiver does not want to connect to any controller I try using. I stopped using it for 2 weeks, I just didn't fell like playing games and my classes had just started. I have a wireless receiver to use a 360 controller and PC and was working flawlessly for a couple of weeks.
